SPORTS AT THE HEART OF OTJIKONDO

Building Champions On and Off the Field

At Otjikondo sport provides a welcome balance alongside academics, giving children the chance to step away from the classroom, have fun, develop new skills and discover the joy of being part of a team. From netball, basketball, volleyball and soccer to athletics in all its disciplines, there are many opportunities for children to participate, challenge themselves and take pride in their achievements.

A highlight of the year is Sports Day, when the Yellow Team and Green Team compete with great enthusiasm, school spirit and pride. Our talented athletes also have the opportunity to represent Otjikondo when competing against other schools, putting their skills and teamwork to the test.

Thanks to a generous donation of bicycles, cycling has also become a much-loved activity at Otjikondo, creating new opportunities for exercise, exploration and adventure.

A big part of Otjikondo’s sporting spirit comes from the volunteers who generously share their enthusiasm, knowledge and time with the children. Some support sports that are already loved at Otjikondo, while others introduce new experiences and open doors to sports our children may never have encountered before. Over the years, this has included everything from hockey and cricket to karate and ballet – each new activity bringing excitement and the chance to discover new interests and hidden talents.

The greatest victories at Otjikondo are not only measured in goals scored, races completed or matches won. They are found in training together, celebrating success, handling disappointment and understanding that both winning and losing are part of the journey. Sport helps our children grow into capable, resilient young people – on the field, in the classroom and throughout life.
