WHAT’S HAPPENING AT OTJKONDO? The 2nd Term Update is out now!

DAILY LIFE IN THE HOSTEL

A Home away from Home

The hostel is where everyday life happens. Children live in small hostel groups under the guidance of dedicated hostel staff who provide support, encouragement and stability throughout the school term. Bright dormitories, shared courtyards and welcoming common areas create spaces where children can relax, study, play and spend time together.

Nutritious meals are prepared each day, supplemented by fresh produce from local gardeners. Cleanliness, tidiness and personal hygiene are encouraged from an early age, helping children develop habits that will benefit them throughout their lives. When children are unwell, they receive care at the hostel’s sick bay and, if necessary, are taken for professional medical attention to Outjo.

Life at Otjikondo extends far beyond the classroom and the dormitory. Here children find more than a place to sleep and study. They laugh, play, sing, compete, create and grow together as a community. The friendships they form, the sports they play, the music they share and the experiences they enjoy become part of the memories that shape their childhood. Long after they leave Otjikondo, many carry those memories with them as a reminder of a place where they felt supported, valued, and at home.
