Singing, rhythm, dance and shared performances are deeply rooted in Namibian culture and form an important part of community expression and everyday life. At Otjikondo, we celebrate this rich cultural tradition while giving children the opportunity to discover and develop their own musical talents. 

During weekly assemblies, our children’s voices come together in song, building a rich repertoire that grows throughout the years. Under the guidance of our dedicated music teacher, Mr. Faustinus, all children take part in music lessons as part of the school curriculum, where they develop concentration, discipline, teamwork, and the courage to share what they have learned with others. Whether learning their first notes on the recorder, singing in harmony, or playing the drums, music helps children build confidence, express themselves, and experience the joy of creating something together.

Otjikondo provides access to a wide range of instruments, including recorder, flute, clarinet, piccolo, violin, cello, marimba and drums, many of which have been generously donated through long-standing partnerships. This opens opportunities that would otherwise be beyond the reach of the children.

As their skills grow, learners perform together in the Otjikondo orchestra and take part in regular concerts throughout the year. Cultural singing groups proudly celebrate Namibia’s rich traditions through song and dance while representing the school at performances and festivals.
