At Otjikondo, creativity is considered an important part of learning and growing, helping children develop imagination and the skills to bring their ideas to life. Through drawing, painting and crafts children learn to experiment, solve problems and take pride in what they create. Art provides a space where there are no right or wrong answers – only opportunities to explore, try something new and see the world from a different perspective.

A highlight of the creative calendar is the annual Otjikondo Arts Festival, which brings together schools from across the region to celebrate artistic talent. Each year participants meet at Otjikondo to create artwork inspired by a chosen theme – such as Wildlife in Namibia – using materials supplied by Waltons Otiwarongo. While two young artists from each school work in the medium of their choice, a choir of fifteen learners performs, creating a vibrant celebration of art, music and community. Entries are judged by respected Namibian artists and representatives from the Ministry of Education. Sponsored by Pointbreak Namibia, winners are recognised with prizes for both individual artists and choirs. In addition, each participating school receives a generous donation of art materials to encourage creativity far beyond Otjikondo. 

Whether creating something colourful, mastering a new technique or simply enjoying the creative process, art at Otjikondo is about more than the finished piece. Each child is encouraged to discover and develop their own artistic voice, drawing inspiration from their culture, their surroundings and their imagination.
